From the President

July 24, 2010

Greetings Members,

Since the last quarterly meeting of MSFCCA, the Policies and Procedures Committee and I have been feverishly working on changes to the Policies and Procedures. Our biggest concern has been to make sure that they address times such as these, when there is no one who meets the current requirements that is willing to step up and take on the responsibility of President.  I believe we have accomplished that as well as other revisions needed throughout. The changes have been submitted for review and will soon be adopted.

During the thorough review of our Policies and Procedures Manual, it came to my attention that there are some issues we need to clarify.  First and most importantly, each Director should read and follow through with their fiduciary responsibilities. Secondly, each Committee, when holding their meetings, will need to take meeting notes and forward a copy to the recording secretary, so that we can continue to keep an accurate history of the Association.

Donna Fowler and I will be going to the St. Mary’s County Association meeting in September so that Donna can do a Public Policy Update and I can do a reach out and touch visit.  Someone finally invited me, okay they asked for Donna and I invited myself, but they didn’t say no. We also have planned a meeting with the Charles County Family Child Care Association to outline the benefits of being a member of MSFCCA, on September 2, 2010. At the next Quarterly Meeting, I am asking all Directors, especially Member Directors, to let us know what benefits they and their associations find are the most beneficial in their MSFCCA membership.

Best Regards,

Janice Gray

President
